Good news for our venue!

St Andrews Church schoolroom is where we hold our monthly meetings and store our growing collection of historical archives about the village in which live.

Prior to Christmas 2022 the gas boiler which heats the schoolroom broke down, suffering a pump failure. The boiler itself is reaching the stage where its becoming uneconomical to repair.

As a group we approached the church trustees and stewards and suggested that we work together to apply for funding to replace the boiler. We approached our local Area Action Partnership, The East Durham Community Corridor and following a successful application two of our local Coxhoe ward councillors, Jan Blakey & Gary Hutchinson agreed to fund the replacement from their community budgets. A big thank you to Jan & Gary and the team at the AAP who guided and advised us throughout the process of application.

At a time when the cost of utilities has never been higher for everyone, a more energy efficient appliance has never been needed more than it is today.

We look forward to the appliance being installed in the near future and we can look forward to a warmer venue. With energy efficiency in mind we will be looking to the future to make the building more energy efficient and cost effective.
